CAMIS - Coordinated activities for management of Isonzo - Soča
To support decision making on strategic level one of the tasks was to provide decision makers with quantitative evaluation of analysed watercourses by their suitability for the most relevant water uses (fish farming, hydropower, fishing, bathing sites) on one side and by their need for conservation on the other side. To provide an objectivity, transparency and repetitiveness as applied method multi criteria analysis approach was developed. Main criteria with supporting indicators are Attractiveness for relevant water use, Ecology value and Landscape value. The project partnership within CAMIS gathers local competent authorities and expert institutions from both countries in the fields of spatial planning, environment and water management. Participation of stakeholders who are competent for water management and environmental objectives was ensured by multiple stakeholder events.

TEST: Rivers are the lifelines of sustainable development in the Alps. They provide clean drinking water for human use and irrigation for agriculture, they are home to a myriad of organisms, they provide recreation opportunities, and their power helps us to produce energy. Alpine rivers can only provide these and other services to society if we take care of them, on the basis of comprehensive stream management.
